Data Matrix Barcode
Although the MCS MicroVision camera system supports many barcodes, there are many issues that affect read rates. MCS and the mailing and graphics industry has adapted the 2D Data Matrix code as the most reliable barcode for most applications because of it size, and its built in error correction. Typically we recommend using a six or seven digit sequence number with a cell size of 10X10. A typical Data Matrix Barcode will be less then ¼ inches square, depending on the quality of the printer.

1 D Barcodes
2 of 5, 3 of 9, are just two examples of linear symbology 1 D barcodes. Linear symbology barcodes tend to be older simpler barcodes that are much bigger then the data matrix barcode. Because they tend to be bigger, most of the time the camera has to be more back further, or a wide angle lens must be used. If the camera is places further away, it uses less pixels to create the image. If a wide angle lens is used, a curved fish eye effect could effect the image.
